Gabriella

Gabriella, admittedly, bears a striking resemblance to Umberto Asnago’s Midi Office Desk designed for Porada. While I normally shy away from “copying” someone else’s work, I could not resist creating a piece similar in flavor. Asnago's incredible design is far more complex, detailed and is considerably larger. And it sells for $31,000.

Crafted from solid Black Walnut and Maple, Gabriella is a study in sharp yet harmonious angles, marked contrasts in wood tones and a floating desk top that seems to defy gravity. Three large drawers open to the user’s side and a fashionable “nook” faces front. Solid hardwoods have been used throughout, with the exception of the drawer bottoms. A clear, hand-rubbed finish has been applied to all surfaces, letting the natural color, grain and figure of the wood shine through. Dimensions: Length: 67-5/8” x Width: 23-1/2” x Height: 29-1/2”. Price: $3,500.
